And it seemed to me that I could write a story about how it's something that everybody has to do and it's not a bad thing."īut balancing the book's darker themes with the rest of the story was a challenge. And so I wanted to make sure that she would understand what it was more. And it seemed to me that that was the kind of thing you could be scared of for the rest of your life. And we looked into it together, as well as you can with a 4-year-old, and she was very scared with the idea of dying.
